About Me

Words matter. Good food doesn’t hurt, either.

I’m Tammy. It’s nice to meet you!

Have you ever noticed that when you think about a book you’ve read, you don’t remember the words? Instead, you run through the scenes in your head, flipping through the pictures it conjures.

Words. Words did that. They’re magical, and this is exactly why I love them.

I learned to read at the tail end of age three and I’ve been devouring words ever since. When I was in kindergarten, I came in second place in a summer reading contest at our local library. (466 books, in case you wondered, and yes, I was ticked I didn’t win.) The transformative power of the written word had already established its hold on me way back then.

Somewhere along the way I decided I wanted that power for myself. I started writing in bits and pieces, marveling at the way one tiny word could alter the trajectory of a sentence. Based on the fact that people pay me to do it, I think I’ve gotten pretty good at it.

Besides words, the loves of my life are my two adult children and my anxious bullmastiff. I’m tormented by wanderlust and fearful of a wasted life. Oh, and I’m a passionate foodie.

Now that you know me, I’d love to get to know YOU. Introduce yourself!

“To me, the absolute beauty of writing is that a person remembers a story in pictures, not words.” (I really said that!)
